I started my journey in Aikido in January 1981 at the Nuuanu Aikido Club. I studied under the direction of Sadao Yoshioka shihan. In November 1984, I received my shodan and became an assistant instructor at the YBA Aikido club. After Yoshioka's death, I had the privilege and honor to this day to study with Gayne Sogi sensei.

"In the beginning, my objective in Aikido was to get a good workout, not knowing or caring what the techniques were about, nor concerned about the philosophy. However, as time went by, the philosophy of Aikido made a lot of sense. Now that I've been practicing Aikido for the last 24 years, I see how much Aikido has helped me in my everyday life. I now have the opportunity and privilege as an instructor to pass on what I've learned. Aikido is a process with a beginning but no end. Thus, my journey continues...."
