Hawaii Betsuin Aikido Club first started in 1984, the dojo was originally known as Young Buddhist Association (YBA) Aikido Club. The club later took on the name of Hawaii Betsuin Aikido Club (HBAC). HBAC is part of the Hawaii Aikido Federation (HAF) that is an affiliate of Aikikai Hombu Dojo, Tokyo Japan.
HBAC has been lead by Chief instructor, Gayne Sogi, 7th dan. He provides leadership for the club as he has from when the club first opened over 25 years ago. The club continues to practice regularly in the same location as it has been since 1984. HBAC offers regularly scheduled classes 4 times per week, participates in state wide Aikido seminars, and many other special events are offered throughout the year. The club is fortunate to have so many exceptional teachers that volunteer their time to perpetuate the practice of Aikido.
